In case you missed the news heard round the (social media) universe, Mark Zuckerberg and his teammates at Meta launched Threads, their alternative to Twitter, earlier than expected – and it's already making a huge global splash in more ways than one. Despite receiving mixed reactions from keyboard heroes on the Internet, the newest social media platform quickly gained 30M+ users seemingly overnight.

Below we've featured an overview of Threads from the creators themselves:

"“Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things – or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.”

Signing up for Threads is super easy, especially if you're already an Instagram account holder. (Sorry European friends, it isn't available for users across the pond... yet!) While only time can tell whether Meta's newest release will be a smash or a flop, for now it seems that people are truly rallying behind it. Whether that is because they actually like the app or just really, really hate Twitter CEO Elon Musk still remains to be determined.

(But be warned, readers: the powers that be at Meta still are hardcore data miners so whatever you post on Threads will be shared with very loose privacy concerns in mind.)
